Kurdistan, also known as Greater Kurdistan, is a significant geo-cultural region in the Middle East. This extensive plateau and mountain area is primarily inhabited by the Kurdish people and encompasses parts of eastern Turkey, northern Syria, northern Iraq, and northwestern Iran.
The Kurdish People and their Homeland
The name "Kurdistan" derives from the Kurdish people, an ethnic group with a distinct language, culture, and history. The region they inhabit is divided into four main areas: Upper Kurdistan, located in Turkey, and Lower Kurdistan, comprising parts of Syria, Iraq, and Iran.
